A Simple Message and Wish from Me to You - Mayor Gelo Vargas, Aliaga Nueva Ecija
This year has been one of the toughest years we have faced, among our community and as a nation. The ongoing pandemic caused by COVID-19, the economic crisis, and the different storms that battered our community weighs heavily on us, even during the holiday season. In the past we have celebrated Christmas together with a ceremonial lighting of the tree at the Municipality, and through feasts and festivities, but this year is quite different. Because mass gatherings are currently prohibited our celebrations might seem smaller — but no less meaningful!
Instead let us reflect on hope, unity, and togetherness — which I feel are the true meaning and spirit of Christmas.
We are grateful to you our frontliners — from the doctors, nurses, firemen, policemen, barangay officials, and tanods — to the volunteers, our partners in government agencies, and you our community for the sacrifices you made with us to keep Aliaga safe.
As we have said, It is never a lighthearted thing to sacrifice oneself for the sake of the majority. As we plan for next year at the Municipality, I enjoin everyone to unite for the common good. If we work together, there is nothing we cannot achieve in 2021.
Although this year has been difficult, and the road has been rough, there is comfort in the promise of the future. Despite these hard times, our spirit is not diminished. Hope springs eternal.
May God bless you and have a very merry and meaningful Christmas as well as a brighter and better New Year.
